3 Movies Coming Straight to Your Home

We are declaring 2021 the year of the home movie! No, not the grainy VHS from the 90’s but new Hollywood studio films from previously delayed releases and long-awaited sequels. And there are some highly anticipated movies debuting in your home this month.

Here’s a list of the three films the Austere team cannot wait to watch!

Raya and the Last Dragon

Release Date: March 5th

Where to Watch: Disney+ and Theaters

Disney’s coming animation film will be the first to feature a Southeast Asian heroine. Raya and the Last Dragon will be released on Disney+ with Premier Access the same day it hits theaters. A family friendly fantasy adventure, Disney Premier Access lets you stream the movie in stunning quality with UHD, HDR, and Dolby Audio as well as watch and re-watch for as long as you have Disney+, which is a super cool benefit of the streaming platform that our team members with kids especially appreciate!

Coming 2 America

Release Date: March 5th

Where to Watch: Amazon Prime Video

Every Gen X’er at Austere is jumping up and down on one leg and barking in anticipation of Eddie Murphy’s return as Prince Akeem. In Essence magazine, Murphy explained that it took three decades to make Coming 2 America because the one thing he did not want was a “bad sequel.” As if. Eddie Murphy is comedy gold in this role. Austere CEO Deena Ghazarian’s favorite movie is Coming to America, so you know she’ll be rolling to McDowell’s for take-out so she can watch C2A at home with the fam. Let your Soul Glo March 5th!

Godzilla vs. Kong

Release Date: March 31st

Where to Watch: HBO Max and Theaters

We know, we know – this is a movie that screams to be on the big screen. However, leave it to the wizards at HBO to create a movie trailer that was so captivating even on our phones that we have every reason to believe Godzilla vs King Kong will break barriers for how amazing home streaming can be. And we haven’t been this excited since Game of Thrones to be engulfed in epic battle scenes that cost a bajillion dollars to make and that look and sound so powerful it’s like you’re actually there.

Home entertainment is at Austere’s core, so naturally we are closely following the dynamic and evolving movie theater industry. We expect the hybrid release model will continue to grow, even as more theaters open back up. So sit back, grab some popcorn and your comfy blanket and enjoy!
